By Mike O’Connell

when writers write
they are
sailing with us over inside seas
island to island
discoveries logged
guided by the stars
both dim and bright
enhanced by roiling waves lapping
testing structures
tilting at the stutus quo
fighting corrosion of the
process influenced by the currents
the wind
rising tides
need for knowledge
searching for a song
a story
a poem
for lost things
some to search for
some to free the soul
some to feed the worm
that crawls inside the brain
some to laugh at themselves
or cry for others
just to write
