Footprints in the sand, who left them there?
A beast so tall and full of hair?
A friend or foe, wild or tame?
An angry beast freed from his lair?
Or is it someone’s treasured friend, faithful, loving until the end?
The prints can only leave a hint of who has wandered here,
a wild beast, a snarling thing or a treasured friend, a pet held dear.
The sand holds mysteries of land and sea.
These sacred prints whose could they be?
