flapping

By Mike O’Connell
he wears arrogance
like a toupee
encasing all the things
gone unsaid
fluttering
in storms of lies
he dons stupidity
his false face flashing
each square inch
sponsored by dark
influences
he thinks we cannot see
the decomposing
self inside
using money he will
never have
sponsored by
invisible puppeteers
that claim
they never saw him
talked to him
acknowledged his
existence
or gave him
the time of day
smiling
as they argue
about how far
they should
have him fall
(Mike O’Connell 3/11/18)
